Doosan Fuel Cell plans to expand its hydrogen business overseas. The company on Thursday said it had signed an agreement with the state of South Australia and Doosan Group subsidiary Hyaxiom to foster the hydrogen economy.

The agreement calls for the three entities to foster the exchange of equipment and expertise to produce eco-friendly hydrogen and derivative products, while also shaping strategies on hydrogen exports to speed up momentum on future decarbonization.

The government of South Australia state recently divulged a plan to boost the share of its energy drawn from renewable sources to 100% by 2030, from 68% of total electricity generated last year.

In support of this, a plan was launched to build a 250-MW water electrolysis facility, a 200-MW hydrogen power plant and hydrogen storage facilities.

“Australia has abundant renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and water power, so it is easy to produce green hydrogen from these that has strong price competitiveness,” said Jeong Hyeong-rak, CEO of Doosan Fuel Cell.
