Doosan Robotics, a robot solution subsidiary of South Korea's Doosan Group, said on Tuesday it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with domestic smart factory construction specialist Telstar Hommel to expand its collaborative robot (cobot) solutions market.

Telstar Hommel is well-known for developing its proprietary AI-powered smart factory platform, LINK5, and providing smart factory setup support to numerous South Korean small and medium-sized enterprises.

The company has also contributed to several high-profile projects, including Hyundai Motor's manufacturing line digitalization and national AI smart factory initiatives.

This partnership will see Doosan Robotics extending its services, such as cobot supply, training, and manufacturing solutions. Telstar Hommel will provide smart factory consultation, design and construction services. Both companies will join forces in domestic and international sales and marketing endeavors.

Doosan Robotics plans to apply cobots in various manufacturing processes, including welding and bolt fastening, pick and place for rapid material handling, machine tending for inputting materials into processing machines and retrieving finished products, and palletizing for stacking products onto transport pallets.

The MOU is the latest in a series of moves by Doosan Robotics to expand its cobot solutions market. In April, the company signed a business agreement with Rockwell Automation, the largest industrial automation specialist in the US, to supply cooperative robots and jointly develop cooperative robot solutions for various processes.
