Hyundai Motor Co. announced on Monday that the Elantra N TCR has won the 2023 TCR (touring car racing) World Tour in José Carlos Bassi Circuit, Argentina, from August 25 to 27.

Hyundai's customer team BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse stood on a double podium finish, marking a significant victory for the automotive giant.

Mikel Azcona, a driver of the BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team, clinched first place in the opening final race on August 26, while teammate Norbert Michelisz took second. Michelisz also finished fourth in the second last race, accumulating enough points to rise to the drivers' championship leaderboard with 270 points.

The BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team currently holds second place in the overall team rankings with 523 points.

"We are delighted with our strong performance, following our success in the opening round in Portugal and the third round in Italy," head of Hyundai Motor's N Brand & Motorsport Business Division Till Wartenberg said. He further pledged the company's continued support for customer racing teams to maximize the Elantra N TCR's potential in upcoming events.

The TCR World Tour is part of a larger, global TCR series and succeeds last year's concluded World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). Points acquired in a selection of 9 races determine the championship rankings. The top 15 drivers will vie for the ultimate championship in the TCR World Final, scheduled for late this year or early next.

Direct manufacturer involvement is prohibited in the TCR World Tour, which functions as a customer racing platform. Professional racing teams purchase vehicles from manufacturers to compete.

The next round of the 2023 TCR World Tour takes place at Sydney Motorsport Park, Australia, from November 3 to 5.
