LG CNS Co., the information technology service arm of LG Group, is enhancing production efficiency and security in smart factories through collaboration with Honeywell, US-based global conglomerate.

LG CNS announced on Wednesday that it has recently signed a business agreement with Honeywell to strengthen their competitiveness in the smart factory business.

Through the latest agreement, the two companies will expand collaboration in domestic and international smart factory construction, real-time monitoring of production processes, and the enhancement of operational technology security by remotely controlling equipment.

LG CNS and Honeywell will provide packaged solutions combining their proven smart factory platforms and solutions to corporate customers.

To achieve this, LG CNS's Factova platform, which encompasses over 20 years of smart factory construction expertise within the LG Group, will be used to create optimized production processes based on past data.

By integrating Honeywell's process control solutions, such as the distributed control system, the real-time operation status of equipment can be monitored and controlled, resulting in a comprehensive smart factory solution.

In addition, a security integrated monitoring system will be established for smart factories.

As traditional factory networks have evolved into cloud-based smart factories, the importance of operational technology security has been highlighted.

Through the integrated monitoring system, customers can have a comprehensive overview of cyber threats in all factories with automated equipment and even proactively prevent data breaches.

The system also incorporates AI-based threat detection technology and integrated threat detection and response services. This enables customers to identify emergency situations such as gas leaks or fires within the factory, prevent accidents in advance and respond swiftly.

Honeywell, listed on the New York Stock Exchange, has four main business areas: factory automation, aerospace, building controls and production solutions. Honeywell's business competitiveness has been recognized to the extent that it has been included in Fortune magazine's list of the top-100 software companies.
